I have been working really hard at putting together some complete outfits. I have curated lots and lots of outfits. A lot of times I have noticed that the best way to organize one’s closet and know what to shop for is to have visuals. I save a lot of my favorite outfits photos in a folder in my phone. That way I have somewhere to get  inspiration on days where I don’t know what to wear. Sometimes is not that we ldon’t have the right clothes. We just run out of ideas of how to pair them. I often wake up and I know I want a  cute mom outfit! But end up spending so much time not knowing what to wear and pulling out one thing after the other with no end in sight.

To be quick out the door, I have to organize my ideas about outfits what to pair with what. When I know what I have I can look at a cute outfit and put it together with what I have in my closet already. When I don’t have something I can shop consciously and buy out of need rather than ending up with doubles at home.

With all of these boardsI am sharing ideas  such as a casual mom outfit, and more elegant ones. I even have put together a  soccer mom outfit.

These style boards below can also be saved for style inspiration ideas. As I mentioned above, I keep a folder on my iPhotos of all of my favorite outfit ideas. Every once in a while I scroll through all of these photos and I am able to recycle through outfit ideas. Sometimes I forget that one day I paired a specific item with a killer pair of shoes. I love visuals. So when I look at outfit photos I get inspired on how to recreate certain outfits with items that are already in my closet.

I shop with a preset monthly budget. So even when I can’t buy everything that I want all at once. I can at least preplan what I am going to buy when.

Sometimes I can’t find what I am looking for right away. When I keep a running list of what I need in my closet, I can search slowly online. I find  that when I take the time to make decisions with purchases I end up getting the best clothes. I also either don’t end up buying that one item, because I forget about it…  Or I can’t find it and I wait until the following year and then someone ends up making it and it’s the perfect pair. For example lately I am looking for a perfect pair or relaxed beige jeans. I haven’t found them yet. I may have to wait until spring or next winter. But I know I need them and when the time is right I’ll be able to find the right pair.

Shopping doesn’t always have to be a rushed decision out of urgency because everything will sell out.

I find that I love the most the pieces that I shopped for consciously rather than an impulse buy.

It’s a very rich, warm, and vibrant pink. Most people will probably just call it a fuchsia. So I selected my favorite dresses in this color. I think they are great for Valentine’s Day since it’s coming up. What a great way I think to show up wearing hot pink rather than traditional red this year. Whether to a dinner date, a girl’s night out, or to church.

The dresses I have selected are all on sale. I selected colors for every size, budget, height, you name it. I haven’t selected one yet. I do know my skin has a lot of yellow undertones so I will portably select whichever dress has the richest pink tone that goes well with my skin.

On to a different topic, something I have been seeing written by a few of my favorite sustainable brands, is the slogan: READY FOR THE FUTURE. Whether they use it in reference to the color or because they are making clothes that are more sustainable… The meaning is different in each case. But I like it!

Be ready for the future.

Are we ready for the future? Lately I have had to rebalance at home making sacrifices for the future vs, trying to also live well I the present. The present sets the foundation fora good future. But living well for me as an adult is a lot harder than I thought. Psychologists say that if you think about the future you will feel anxious. Thinking about the past can bring up regrets. So the present is all we got.

So I have been working on rebalancing my present situation. Sometimes I don’t even realize that I am secretly running all day. Running away from pain. Trying to avoid challenges or solve problems. All while trying to create a good foundation for our future. I do that with money. I try NOT to spend it all so we can have savings in the future. I AVOID credit cards so I don’t have to pay interest in the future. I also SAVE so we can have time to relax in the future.

Then I try to fix my present by trying to change the things that I don’t like in my current situation. It never stops. Sometimes it’s more my fault because I am too slow to act on the things that I already know I should be doing. Other times it’s a game of patience. Waiting for the things that want to happen to actually occur. It’s a delicate balance.

I do that with every aspect of my life. Even clothes. When I buy a dress I sometimes look at my budget and it’s tempting to buy 1 pant, 1 shirt, and 1 dress for the same price I could buy a more sustainable dress only. But then I know a year from now I will no longer be liking the cheap pant, shirt, and dress I bought. So if I can hold my horses and make a better decision and only buy 1 sustainable dress, maybe I can help the planet, buy something that will last me a lifetime, and look back in the future and thank myself for not falling for the consumerism trap.

It takes effort to be intentional. It takes wits to build a strong foundation. It takes a little bit of overthinking things sometimes. I’m learning that it’s ok to be that way. I accept how slow I can be at what I do. Life is a game after all. Let’s play it slowly and methodically like chess.

The kids still love to go to the park and walk around the neighborhood so for me it’s important to be comfortable and warm.

On Sunday I got up super late to go to Church. I had selected my outfit the night before. I was able to get ready in just a few minutes. I wore this outfit. I loved that I was comfortable and warm. In fact after church we even walked home together and I was able to race the kids and run to the front door.

I selected the gold earrings I linked below because they are super light. Most thick hoop earrings tend to be heavy. I couldn’t believe how light these wear. I don’t want the whole where my ears are pierce to be stretched. These earrings are so light they feel imperceptible once put on.

First I’m going to share the method we have come up with to solve this problem earlier on in the season. Then I am going to share my favorite Christmas presents for a mom. Especially if you have a mom who wants to look young and hip without looking too kiddish. I kept it simple. It’s from one brand with lots of variations!

This is what has worked for us lately. For the last few years I have been compiling Christmas lists for everyone starting in September or throughout the whole year.

Basically what I do is to pay attention to a toy that the kids have asked for more than once. When they do I remind them that they can ask for it for Christmas, or I just write it down on my secret list which I keep on my phone under the reminders app and it’s named “Christmas gifts.”

I do the same for myself. I save a few more expensive items for Christmas only as part of my dream list of things that can make Christmas Day a bit more exciting. Truth is I love holidays and special days.

I want them to feel special and be a bit elaborate and organized but to seem effortless.

I have noticed that if I fail to plan I have planned to fail. That means that if a special day is coming up unless I plan to the tee how I would like to feel and what I would like to do, my expectations won’t be met.

I do plan how I would like to feel, dress, and what I would like to do throughout the day for me to feel that it will be a truly special special day.

As a kid I used to think that when I watched a tv show and someone would celebrate a birthday for example, that them having a major ball or party with hundreds of people at a venue, was just what grown ups did. I thought that someday I secretly would live that way too.

As I have gotten older I have realized that if I want a day to happen that way, unless I ask for it to family and friends- mostly my husband- and plan for it, it won’t happen.

So back to Christmas time I am going to share an easy gift that is also super practical. And one of my favorite things are shoes.

These ones are not going to be elegant ones. They are comfy with crisp clean lines and a bit of sporty sass.

My favorite Converse for mom. Young, hip, and still a little elegant.

I chose these styles for a Christmas present because it’s what I actually asked for as one of my presents. Chuncky sneakers have been in for over a year, and these ones still have a bit of elegance to them. They adapt for women who want to feel young but not look like their 16 year old daughter coming out of high school.

They are all so cute they made me wish I was a famous tik toker or influencer for Converse just so that I could buy them all.

They all have a thicker sole which is perfect for keeping the feet higher up and away from the floor so if it’s raining or snowing they won’t get feet wet or the soles as dirty.

Converse are great shoes for street wear, but also to pair with elegant outifts. Italians have been wearing tennis shoes with dresses for years now.

These shoes are also super comfortable for walking all day in the city, and they are just always in style no matter which fashion trends are going on.

The thicker soles are also particularly great because they lengthen the leg, giving a girl a more elongated leg.

When viewed from afar they basically make a person look taller and slimmer.

If you are like me, I am always on the go, and this winter has been full of show everywhere. So for me my toes need to be warm. But I also wanted a shoe that is young, hip, and elegant.

So I went for Converse. I love converse shoes because it’s actually the one brand where our whole family likes to shop. No one is bored when we enter that store. They also have many of their shoes go on sale often, including some of the ones I have linked below.

I chose neutral colors that are super versatile. Here is something I also love about converse shoes. The majority of them can be washed in the washer and will hold up a wash really well. So I don’t mind buying even lighter colors. The only material I won’t wash in the washer is suede. I also make sure to wash them with like colors. Or I keep a white towel to throw in whenever I wash shoes so it can help rub away stain during the wash cycle and since it will absorb a lot of the street dirt I can then keep that towel just for future other shoe cycles.

Washing my tennis shoes has been my secret way to keep all of my shoes looking brand new for years ahead. It’s also what prevents me from getting mad at my kids for stepping on me 5 times a day at a least.
